Welcome to BSA Troop 71, Oskaloosa, Iowa!

Boy Scouts of America Troop 71, located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, meets several times per month. We are part of the Mid-Iowa Council of Boy Scouts of America, with our council's summer camp located at Camp Mitigwa, just outside of Woodward, Iowa, northwest of Des Moines.

The Troop's boys set their schedule of meetings on a month-by-month basis, on when the majority of boys can attend.

The Scouts meet at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, our home and chartering sponsor.

We go on camp outs almost once every month, where the Scouts work on skills and develop self-reliance. We also work on troop merit badges like First Aid and Canoeing, and individual merit badges on subjects that interest the specific Scout.

Boys must be in 6th grade or be in fifth grade and have earned their Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouts to be eligible to join Boy Scouts. Once in Boy Scouts, the scouts work on requirements for each level of advancement, before reaching the ultimate goal, of Eagle Scout.
